East
Senior Agent
November 2024 - present
Agent
January 2021 - November 2024
east.co
East is an agency for creative artists representing Photographers, Directors and Set Designers, with offices in London and New York.
In my role as an agent my main responsibilities centre around pursuing new business and providing hands-on project management.
To secure commissions for the agency my role requires constant assessment of the market and bringing a creative approach to cultivating connections with clients - ensuring our engagement with them is curated, timely and inspiring.
As an agent I negotiate the terms of an artist commission, and play a key role in project management throughout the resulting job, working closely with all parties to establish the best approach. In doing this East strives to deliver both an exceptional end product but also the very best service throughout.
Working to these aims requires close collaboration within the East team, both between fellow agents and our in-house producers, but also with management and our New York office.
A distinguishing quality specific to East is our commitment to supporting the roster’s fine art practice - most directly through exhibitions and publications, but also more holistically in their portfolio. This serves to compliment the commercial focus of an artist’s body of work and our business as a whole, but also allows us to engage in creative dialogue with the wider community.
Key responsibilities for my current role include:
Formulating individual artist strategies, which outline mutual financial and creative goals, as well our commitment to attaining them
Promotion of the roster through bespoke marketing, including personal meetings with clients throughout Europe
Hands on project management of jobs through the agency
and a proactive approach to production support - including contracting and liaising with suppliersFinancial duties such as budgeting, invoicing, reconciliations and assessing quarterly reports. I also introduced the creation of an annual review of the source of our commissions, based on extensive data harvesting
Managing the professional online presence of our artists on multiple channels, and offering professional and strategic advice on their brand
Supporting artists to stage exhibitions (often hosted at our own 10 14 gallery), including curatorial input, marketing
and guest lists. This also applies to the launch of fine art publications and other eventsIdentifying new talent and potential future signings, both through awareness of the industry at large but also through regular face to face meetings with a broad range of creatives, which also extends to potential production contact and collaborators (stylists, crew, cinematographers, etc)
Wizzo & Co
Agent
May 2017 -
January 2021
wizzoandco.co.uk
As an agent at Wizzo & Co, I managed the roster of Cinematographers and Production Designers for commercial advertising, as well as feature films and television drama.
Key aspects of this position involved market research and fostering close relationships with commissioners, alongside negotiating the terms of artist engagement on commercial projects, and marketing them through ongoing promotion of their work.
Other aspects of the role encompassed drafting income projection statements and quarterly reports, regular attendance of industry events, and signing new artists.
Coco Capitán
Studio Manager
September 2016 - April 2017
cococapitan.co.uk
In this role I worked for the fashion photographer Coco Capitán - principally in producing high end editorial and commercial shoots.
I would guide these projects from initial briefing to final file delivery, for clients including Vogue US, British Vogue, Gucci and Dazed, among others.
Beyond my immediate support of Coco’s studio I acted as sole point of contact for creative directors, producers, and editorial staff as well as crew and suppliers.
Concurrently I was responsible for all administrative aspects of the business - this included travel arrangements for Coco and her team, insurance and management of company finances.
Sarah Ewing Agency
Agent
March 2015 - July 2016
My position at Sarah Ewing Agency was as both agent and producer.
Representing the diverse roster of Photographers at SEA primarily centred around pitching for above-the-line campaigns and drafting competitive estimates for both production, fees and usage costs.
The agency would also offer full service production, with all components for confirmed jobs being handled directly by myself. This would include but was not limited to: location sourcing, talent casting, equipment hire, catering and logistics and coordinating post-production.
Aside from our photographic offering, throughout my time there the agency was also closely aligned with the illustration agency Jacky Winter, which offered valuable insight into the nuances of managing commercial projects in this field.
